Dermatitis Pictures and Illustrations

Dermatitis pictures can be extremely useful when trying to identify what type of dermatitis you have and how far along it is.  Dermatitis can be an extremely irritating condition no matter how bad it is.  That being said, in all extreme cases, one should definitely contact his or her doctor for an accurate diagnosis rather than relying on the internet.  For more minor cases though, the internet can be a great resource to find pictures to accurately help you measure one’s dermatitis issue and what they should do to treat the problem.

Seborrheic dermatitis, which includes dandruff, is one of the more common varieties.  This is usually found in the scalp, but it can also exhibit itself in the skin in red patches.  The problem arises from an overproduction of skin cells because of the skin’s reaction to a yeast that causes the skin cells to reproduce rapidly.  They reproduce so rapidly that the cells cannot keep up and many of them die.  These dead skin cells are created in the form of the flakes that irritate one’s scalp.  Seborrheic dermatitis pictures will usually exhibit red round areas with slight scaling.  The inflammation is usually itchy as well so some of the seborrheic dermatitis pictures may show the skin with breaks in it from excessive scratching.

Contact dermatitis pictures will show a slightly different image.  Contact dermatitis, also known as allergic dermatitis, comes in the form of an allergic reaction to a particular substance.  It has several phases to it.  The first phase is the sensitization phase in which allergic dermatitis pictures will show no symptoms as the cells are first exposed to the antigen.  This phase is when the body first decides that it will negatively react to the allergen the next time that it is exposed to the substance.  The next phase, which is called the allergic dermatitis elicitation phase, is when the body will first show a response in contact dermatitis pictures.  The response generally comes within 24-48 hours of the second exposure to the allergen in the form of some subtle redness.  The third phase, which is the allergic dermatitis appearance, is when the skin begins to severely negatively react.  The allergic dermatitis pictures of this phase will show skin with signs of scaling, lesions, oozing, and other issues related to the extreme itchiness that is associated with the condition.   The position of the rash will also aid the patient in trying to figure out what is causing the response.  If the rash is along the position of his or her watch etc, then that will be a good indication of what is causing the skin to react.  Often the response is not so clear cut, but the general vicinity of the rash should give the sufferer clues about what fabrics or items to avoid to prevent the rash from recurring.

With some effective dermatitis pictures, one should be able to self-diagnose many of the basic cases of dermatitis.
