Seborrheic dermatitis, which includes dandruff, is one of the more common varieties. This is usually found in the scalp, but it can also exhibit itself in the skin in red patches. The problem arises from an overproduction of skin cells because of the skin’s reaction to a yeast that causes the skin cells to reproduce rapidly. They reproduce so rapidly that the cells cannot keep up and many of them die. These dead skin cells are created in the form of the flakes that irritate one’s scalp.
